The Balvenie Triple Cask 12 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky expression in Balvenie’s travel retail Triple Cask range is made with whisky matured in three different types of cask, namely first-fill American oak barrels, traditional refill casks and first-fill Oloroso Sherry butts. Following the maturation, the whisky is married together to create a cohesive, flavoursome expression packed with orchard fruit, custard cream and cinnamon spice.
The Balvenie Triple Cask range comprises of 12 year old, 16 year old and 25 year old single malt whiskies. It is created by combining The Balvenie that has matured in the three most traditional types of cask – first-fill bourbon, refill bourbon and sherry – in a large wooden vessel known as a marrying tun. These new marriages of The Balvenie are made to precise recipes refined over time by our Malt Master David C. Stewart MBE to ensure that each captures the distillery’s distinctive rich, smooth and honeyed style.

About the distillery
The Balvenie distillery is a Speyside single malt Scotch whisky distillery in Dufftown, Scotland, owned by William Grant & Sons.
In early 1892 work began to convert an 18th-century mansion (Balvenie New House) into a distillery.  The building took fifteen months to complete, and on 1 May 1893, the first distillation took place at the Balvenie Distillery.
In 2007, The Balvenie’s Global Brand Ambassador, David Mair presented an online documentary series about the making of malt whisky, shot in and around the Balvenie Distillery.
