Bulleit 95 Rye is made with a mashbill of 95% rye and 5% malted barley and is produced in small batches. An absolutely stunning rye that won a Double Gold medal at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition in 2013.
Bulleit Rye is the ultimate expression of a rye whiskey, achieved by its commitment to a 95 percent rye content, versus the industry standard of 51 percent. This creates a spicy finish perfect for classic cocktails including The Manhattan, Old Fashioned and The Sazerac. With rye being a cornerstone to the Bulleit Bourbon recipe, Bulleit Rye had long been a dream of Tom Bulleit’s, as it was the next natural extension of the Bulleit brand. For years, bartenders and mixologists alike requested that Tom add a rye whiskey to the Bulleit range and since it launched in the US in 2011, it has since grown to become the biggest rye whiskey in the US.
Bulleit 95 Rye Bourbon Tasting Notes
Nose: Big heaps of cherries and vanilla, with subtle notes of leather and tobacco.
Palate: Rather hot at first, the spices coming to the forefront. This is followed by peaches, more cherries and a little bit of orange zest.
Finish: A smoky finish, carried by cinnamon, allspice and a hint of sweeties.
Overall: The Bulleit distillery sure know their way around a rye whiskey.
