Description

This excellent 18 year old single malt Scotch whisky from Glenlivet is a classic Speyside dram, matured in a combination of first and second fill American oak and sherry casks. It also won two golds at the International Wine and Spirits Competition.

Over the course of 18 years their Master Distiller, Alan Winchester, took this expression through a combination of cask types, including both first and second-fill American oak (for tropical fruitiness) and ex-sherry oak (for spicy complexity). The result of this deft navigation of the distilling arts is a gorgeous single malt that is complex, yet elegant and balanced. The 18 Year Old has won more awards than any other expression; every bottle is a true example of the quality and taste of The Glenlivet. Any bottle deserves pride of place in your cabinet… perhaps to be held back for a fitting occasion? It is, after all, crafted to impress.

The Glenlivet is among the oldest and most loved Scotch whisky distillers. It’s the brand that ignited the revered Speyside scotches, which are known for their elegance and rich taste. Situated in the middle of The Glenlivet’s impressive portfolio of single malt whiskies lies the 18-Year-Old expression.

One of the brand’s classic and most awarded whiskies, The Glenlivet 18 is relatively easy to find and reliably produced year after year. It is a pricey scotch best served straight. It isn’t a smoky whisky and can be appreciated by both whisky enthusiasts and drinkers new to the scotch scene.

The Glenlivet 18 Year Old Whisky Tasting Notes

Nose: Quite big and well-rounded. There are notes of chewy sultanas and Sherried peels, barley sugars and toasty cereals with petals and apple blossom. A touch of fudge and gentle wisps of smoke.

Palate: Full and rich with notes of chewy, tannic oak. Manuka honey and walnut with Cox’s apples and orange peels. Cut herbs – fennel and spearmint.

Finish: Long and dry with a spicy oak note.
