KShs 13,500
This is a signature label in honor of Nikka’s founder Masataka Taketsuru, the first Japanese who mastered whisky-making in Scotland and brought this expertise back to Japan. While being a disciplined craftsman, he was also a person of curiosity and open-mindedness. This is a tribute to Masataka from his successors, highlighting a perfect balance with complexity achieved by precise blending inherited from the founder.
A “pure malt” is a blend of malt whiskies from various distilleries, whereas a “single malt” is a whisky made exclusively from one distillery. A “pure malt” is also known as a “blended malt”.

A non-age-statement expression of Nikka Pure Malt Taketsuru whisky, named after the company’s founder, Masataka Taketsuru. It features plenty of whisky from the Miyagikyo distillery, as well as percentage of malt matured in sherry casks to give it a rich, spiced nose.
Nikka Pure Malt Taketsuru Tasting Notes
Nose:Â Sherry-soaked plums, raisins and green apple slices. Honey’d cereal, black pepper and hint of barrel char.
Palate:Â Espresso beans, milk chocolate, tobacco leaf and lingering Sherried fruit. There’s a slight touch of smoke as it develops…
Finish:Â Elegant smoke continues, with golden barley and a final hint of coffee.
Overall:Â Superb Japanese blended malt from Nikka.
