KShs 17,000

This 12-year-old Japanese Scotch blend is an exceptionally smooth balance of sweet vanilla and tart fruit. This Pure Malt has been aged for 12 years in ex-bourbon white oak barrels. This well-balanced whiskey comes with a nutty and bold malt flavor with a gentle vanilla and raisin taste. This is a non chill-filtered whisky, with a delicately light finish reinforcing the pureness of the Tottori’s spring water which is used during distillation.

Description

Kurayoshi 12 Years Pure Malt Whiskey is a blended malt from the little-known Matsui Shuzou distillery in Japan’s Tottori Prefecture. These whiskies are made with malts sources from Scotland, then blended with Japanese whisky and volcanic-rock-filtered water.

A lot of Whisky lovers argue that twelve years is the perfect age for a Malt. Taste is such a personal thing that’s it’s hard to say. But we have noticed that many of our favorite drams happen to be in the ballpark of a dozen years or so. Kurayoshi 12 Year Old Pure Malt is not exception.

All the bases are covered — pure Malt aged a full twelve years in new, lightly charred oak, and served up at an absolutely perfect 43% ABV without any of the unwelcome and unnecessary additives that no one really wants. And the result is certainly a sweet spot for us — mellowing the bright tones of the younger spirits into warm notes of nuts and toffee.

Kurayoshi 12 Years Pure Tasting Notes

Nose: Flamed orange peel and lemongrass, with a touch of rye bread dough.

Palate: Aromatic barley with a floral edge, develops a fruity core of apple and white grape soon after.

Finish: Lime, ginger and a whiff of smoke.
