An innovative approach to twice-barreled bourbon creates the rich and colorful flavor of Woodford Reserve Double Oaked. Uniquely matured in separate, charred oak barrels – the second barrel deeply toasted before a light charring – extracts additional soft, sweet oak character.
An interesting twist on Woodford Reserve’s classic straight bourbon. The whiskey is first matured in new charred white oak barrels, as usual, but before bottling is transferred to special heavily toasted, lightly charred finishing barrel. This gives it quite a different flavour to normal, with lots of spicy oak coming through on the palate.
Woodford Double Oaked Reserve Whisky Tasting Notes
APPEARANCE
Clean, brilliant honey amber.
NOSE
Heavy with rich dried fruit, hints of mint and oranges covered with a dusting of cocoa. Faint vanilla and tobacco spice.
TASTE
Rich, chewy, rounded and smooth, with complex citrus, cinnamon and cocoa. Toffee, caramel, chocolate and spice notes abound.
FINISH
Silky smooth, almost creamy at first with a long, warm satisfying tail.

Ingredients
- 1 oz. Double Oaked
- 1 oz. Rye Whiskey
- 1/4 oz. Simple Syrup
- 2 Dashes Woodford Reserve® Aromatic Bitters
Instructions
- Add the Double Oaked, Rye Whiskey, simple syrup and bitters to mixing glass with ice and stir. Strain into absinthe-rinsed tumbler, express lemon peel and discard.
